My name is Swayne Martin. I founded this website at 15 years old, when I began flight training.

I’m an Editor at Boldmethod, aviation student at the University of North Dakota, and a Commercially Licensed Pilot with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings. I’m currently completing training to become a certified flight instructor.

At UND, I’m the Student Outreach Director for the Student Aviation Advisory Council. SAAC is a student council for aviation, which bridges the gap between aviation faculty and students. In addition, I serve as the Social Media Director for local EAA Chapter 1342, one of the only collegiate EAA chapters in the Nation.

As an editor for Boldmethod, a leading source for digital aviation and flight training content, I publish and manage daily articles, lists, videos, and training courses. Boldmethod produces stories that teach, entertain and inspire, as well as training courses that help pilots reach certification. With a growing base of 600,000 monthly readers, Boldmethod drive one of the largest aviation content networks online.

I founded this website “Private to Professional Pilot,” shortly after beginning flight training. It shows my training and professional progression from day one, helping those without an aviation background understand exactly what it takes to become a pilot. Becoming a pilot opens up a world of opportunities, so I hope you’ll be inspired by some of the stories and videos you find on this site. Since foundation, this site has recored over 400,000 page views, receiving visitors from over 195 countries worldwide.
