Glad you had fun on your trip. Just a little nugget from someone who learned at HNL; 8R (the “reef” runway) and 4L/4R are really, really close to each other. Given the amount of traffic in the Class B space, it’s pretty much standard to make an approach over 8L at 800′ (in the middle of the airport) while someone is landing and make your turn onto base just to the left of 8R while someone is on their takeoff run. Keeps your attention in a big way. And if the F-22’s are flying, it REALLY keeps your attention! Reply Swayne Martin November 10, 2014 That sounds like some seriously busy airspace! I saw the F-22s flying and doing pattern work at HNL while waiting in the terminal.
