EAA Chapter 1342 is our local EAA Chapter, made up of UND students and faculty. We’re the only collegiate EAA Chapter in the Nation, and are about 80 members strong at many meetings. This year, we helped put on two Young Eagles Rallies, one in Crookston, MN and one in Grafton, ND. Between the two weekends, we flew over 130 kids, many for their first time in an airplane! Young Eagles is all about getting kids who have an interest in aviation into the sky, and often times at the controls, of a plane flown by an EAA member. With over 75 kids flown in just a few hours, and planes showing up ranging from a Pilatus PC12, King Air 200, P51, and even a TBM Avenger, it was an awesome Sunday! Out of the 7 kids I flew in Grafton, it was the first time in an airplane for 5 of them… It’s an incredibly rewarding feeling to watch their faces transform from fear on takeoff, to an uncontainable smile once we’re in the air. What an awesome year EAA 1342. Thanks to everyone that made it happen! -Swayne Share this:ShareTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint 4 Responses Karlene Petitt May 15, 2016 Swayne, this is so great… giving back the passion you love!!
