Flying Part 135 at Mokulele Airlines gave me the chance to experience everything that a larger airline has… From other flight crews and gate agents to ramp crews, passengers, dispatch, and more. I learned more in my first year of professional flying than I ever imagined, and I’m so grateful for all of the mentors at Mokulele Airlines for showing me the ropes of being an airline pilot. Beyond that, I made a family in Hawaii that I’ll never forget. One of the coolest parts about working for a small company is that you really get to know everyone. It was pretty common for all of the crews working morning flight shifts to drive over to Kua Bay to relax on the beach or go to dinner together on Ali’i Drive. You might be wondering by now why I’m leaving Hawaii. Simply put, it’s tough. Life is always a trade-off, and in this case I know that my career progression relies in-part on my decision to start flying larger aircraft for a regional airline. I’ll miss Hawaii, the Caravan, and my O’Hana in Kona to no end… But I’m so excited for the next step!
